  • It is always the right time to enjoy a cup of Persian tea, whether morning, afternoon, or evening.
  • The level of the caffeine can be adjusted based on how much water you add to the brewed tea leaves, allowing for a less caffeinated option for late evenings. A great way to relax after a long day.

How to Make the Authentic Persian Tea

  1. Add 1 Tbsp of the tea leaves to the tea pot (for serving up to 4 people)
  2. Add 2 cardamom pods
  3. Adding boiling water about 1/3 to 1/2 full
  4. Cover teapot with a tea cozy and let brew 10-15 minutes.
  5. Pour the brewed tea into a serving glass about 1/3 full. Fill the rest of the cup with hot water. Adjust darkness of the tea as desired. The darker the tea, the more caffeinated.

How to Serve Persian Tea

Persian tea is delicious on its own, but it is often served with a sweet on the side. It is common to serve Persian tea with sugar cubes, dates, rock candy, or pastries. See some of our Persian dessert recipes on the blog to serve with a cup of Persian tea:

Recipe Tips

– An electric water kettle is useful to keep water warm as you wait for the tea leaves to brew before you prepare a cup of tea. It is also helpful when you want another cup of tea to have hot water ready.

– Adding cardamom pods is optional, but I think so good and makes the tea more delicious and fragrant.

– You can add a few rose petals to the brewing process to add a rose flavor and fragrant to the tea.
